We're sorry to see you go. If you're uninstalling because of an issue or have any questions, contact us at support@langify-app.com and we'll be happy to help.

Before You Uninstall

What you need to do depends on how langify is published on your theme. In most cases, uninstalling the app is all that is required.

  • Published as embedded app only — this is the default. langify does not add any code to your theme, so you can uninstall the app and no further action is needed.
  • langify translation code present in the theme — this applies if the Polyfill code was added to your theme, or if your store is still using the old publishing method that was in use until the 1st of February 2024. In this case, remove the code before uninstalling.

You can check which applies to your store by opening the Theme Settings tab on the langify dashboard.

Independently of the publishing method, a custom language switcher may have been inserted into your theme manually. See Custom Switcher below.

Uninstall (Embedded App)

If langify is only published as embedded app, uninstall the app at Shopify > Apps. Disabling langify in the Embedded App section of your Theme Customizer beforehand is not necessary — the app block stops applying anything once the app is uninstalled.

Remove langify from the Theme Code

The following only applies if langify translation code or a custom switcher was added to your theme. Please remove any such code before uninstalling langify.

If you're not sure whether any leftover code needs to be removed, just let us know at support@langify-app.com and we'll help you with this.

Custom Switcher

If you have added a langify language switcher in a "Custom" placement and inserted its <span> HTML tag, please remove this code from your theme.

Polyfill Code

The Polyfill code is an optional additional layer of translation code inside the theme. It is not added by default — it has to be inserted manually, for example to apply Static section translations or to translate HTML attributes with Custom Content.

If the Polyfill code has been added, please remove it from your theme as outlined in our guide Manually Managing langify's Translation Code. You can check whether it is present by opening the Theme Settings tab on the langify dashboard.

Legacy Code

If you published langify to your theme prior to the 1st of February 2024 and have not switched over to the embedded app publishing method since, the old langify translation code is still present in your theme. In this case, the Theme Settings tab will appear as shown below.

Remove langify from your theme by clicking the Start to Remove the Code button before uninstalling.

Remove Languages

Note that uninstalling langify will not automatically remove languages. If the translation languages should be removed, you can do this at Shopify > Settings > Languages.

Forgot to Remove the Code?

If you forgot to remove the code before uninstalling and there is still leftover code from langify in your theme, please reinstall langify and follow the unpublishing methods mentioned above. You can stay on the Free plan, so you will not incur any charges.
