Langify does not translate on its own. You would need to manually translate the content of your shop.

You will find a step by step tutorial below:

Step 1: Theme Translations

To translate your theme click on the 'Theme Translations' segment and choose your main theme.

For some languages you can import existing translations, most languages require your input though.

You now have the option to choose one of the theme templates to translate them. The progress you make will be shown by the green progress bar on the right.

Once you have chosen a theme template a new page opens containing a table with two columns.

In the left column called "Original" the original language is displayed and cannot be altered.

The column on the right side is called 'Translation' as you are supposed to put in your translations here.

Please pay attention to the advice on top of the page.

After you have completed these steps the theme shopify provides for your shop is almost completly translated, which includes most of the pages navigational features. You should now begin with translating your content.

Step 2: Translating your own Content. Pages, Products and Collections

To continue the translation of your page you should go on with one of the following. Since Pages, Products and Collections are translated the same way in this tutorial the process is shown with only one example, the pages.

To translate your pages click on 'Pages' in your left Navigation panel.

This page should open (please keep in mind that the progress bars on your screen should be gray as you open the page for the first time and will turn green as you proceed):

Choose the page you wish to begin with and click on its name.

Like before a page with two columns opens.

On the left is the original which can't be altered, on the right side you can type in your translation.

Now you have the possibility to use a "What you see is what you get" editor to customize the translated page.

The first two text fields Title and Content are self explanatory and will be visible in your shop.

Don't forget the SEO page title and SEO page description since they both contain important meta information.

You can now continue with your other pages and products.

Once you are done with the Theme and your content you should publish your translations and have a look at it.

It might be that some occurences of translated text will not be displayed as they should, this happens especially in 'drop down' menus or the checkout pages.

These problems occur as a function of your chosen theme, which makes it difficult for us to give a detailed workthrough but with the following steps most of the missing translations can be fixed.

Step 3: Custom Content

If you have spotted a missing translation you can add a 'custom content' rule for a specific word or sentence.

In the below example, you'll see a case where the user has English option, but the pages title is still displayed in German:

In order to fix that, navigate to the 'Custom' section, which is the very last item in your navigation panel.

Click 'Add new custom content' and name it exactly like it occurs on your page (this includes capital letters!).

Once you have created a 'custom content', you can access and translate it like before.

After saving you should be able to see the changes. The title is now displayed in English:

Notice that the 'custom content' may not work immediately, as its functioning is strongly dependent on the code.

Advanced users can access the theme code via the Shopify Theme section. Click on the three-dot icon next to your theme and go to "Edit Code".
  1. search for the text, where the Custom Content translation is not working, via the search option on the left
  2. delete any blank space before and after the text
  3. make sure the text is inside HTML tags
  4. make sure there is no line break within the text
